You Can't Give Million Dollar Donations and Use a Phony Name? Who Knew? #p21

NPR has a report on how two top men of Nu Skin (an Amway type company) gave a million dollars each to Romney's SuperPAC by using the name of a fake business and something you might find on WOW.  That is apparently illegal and sad.  (Audio version of report is also available from page at link above.)

Instead of getting the privacy they craved and not informing their customers what they apparently do with the money they get from selling a product, they managed to get a local reporter and NPR interested it the donations and now a lot more people know.

BTW,  Eric Prince's sister is married to Dick DeVos "of the Amway fortune" as described by a Huffington Post report (and others to which I have not linked) so I guess like with pizza: cheap ingredients being used to make something sold for enough to offer seven figured donations = success for Republicans.  And then they would like government to ignore them please while they buy up the nation.

GOP to America: Pay No Atttention to that Arrest of Mitt Romney Behind the Curtain

Mitt Romney and Fox News references the presumed Republican candidate's 1981 arrest for disregarding the order of a park ranger by launching his boat at Lake Cochituate in Massachusetts.

Fox actually, goes with Eric Erickson's (a Republican party operative at CNN at least as much as Hillary Rosen is a Democratic one since both are commenters at the news network.) propaganda (Nothing to see here citizen!") about Romney's arrest.

Erickson and Romney pooh pooh the arrest

Erickson:
Romney said yesterday that the park ranger had overstepped his authority in arresting him and said the reason the case was dropped was that he had threatened to charge the officer and his agency, then called the Department of Environmental Affairs, with false arrest.
“He did not have the right to arrest me because I was not a disorderly person. This was an obvious case of false arrest,” Romney said. “The officer obviously agreed because he agreed to dropping the case.”

It must be good being the son of a very wealthy and powerful Republican and having a nice gig for yourself.  That six nice salary sure makes the law enforcement back off fast.

In fact though Lake Cochituate has been under near constant attack from pollution and invasive weeds for decades, which possibly led to  restrictions on boats that could be launched onto Lake Cochituate.  Of course, Romney is not going to tell us what he really did wrong, just strike the same posture that Bush did over his arrests, though in an even more arrogant tone.  How dare we question his right to put his boat where ever he wants.

Were there restrictions until a boat could be checked and certified to be free from pollution or aquatic weeds, or was it just a matter of swimmer safety.  Mitt Romney isn't going to tell us and we should just shut up about it.

You have your marching orders, America.  The man who has promised us more war, says so.

See some facts on how locals have struggled to clean up Lake Cochituate and keep it unpolluted and unclogged with invasive weeds.

Taking a whack at weeds  about the constant struggle to keep the water open on a local treasure and connected ponds in the Lake Cochituate watershed.

Trust fund payment to help clean up former GM property around Beaverdam Brook that is in the Cochituate watershed as noted in the piece as entering the lake waters from the south.  Looking at a Google map it appears to enter what is named Fisk Pond which seems to join with what they call Lake Cochituate via water path under a road.  So pollution from old GM property is likely to be a problem for the lake.  Even in 1981 the people in the area and/or who recreate on the water would be right to be concerned about whether pollution or weeds or boat traffic is endangering the waters or the people swimming in their local lake.

But apparently those kinds of concern aren't supposed to interfere with the fun of people like THE ROMNEYS.

Don't you know how well educated (ie rich) they are?

Gallery of old pictures of Lake Cochituate

Panaramio pictures of Lake Cochituate.   Gee too bad that Romney can't speed his motorboat through this pretty area.

I'm guessing that Beverdam brook is the brook near Bever Dam Rd in Natick, Massachusetts  on Google's map which runs into what they call Fisk Pond, if you want to look for it.

Flickr had no pictures of Lake Cochituate available for sharing  though you can search and find plenty of views held under copyright restriction or Getty License.

Horace Boothroid III at Daily Kos Expanded on this and did a fine report at

Romney's Views on Environmental Protection-Arrested for Violating Law

I'm an old meanie and make people go read other reports.  I think what  Mr. Boothroid selected from different reports was extremely well done giving the story all right there.

I now have two screen grabs of maps for you.  The first is a grab of Beaver Dam Rd and presumed Beaverdam Brook next to it.  Look for the curved line by  BDR that then becomes a visible watercourse lower near Fisk Pond.  I have zoomed in on the map at the point where the land is thin between Fisk pond and what I found from scrolling around the real map to apparently be the lower portion of Lake Cochituate (see the wake of the boat that is apparently zipping around the spit of land down there?  Right at the narrow portion of land  a couple of inches (or so because I don't know how big your screen is) west of that boat where the land narrows and 135 and W Central St appears again there is an opening between the two bodies of water). There also seems to be a floating barrier of some kind possibly to keep trash or other stuff from flowing from one to the other.  I cannot for some reason save the picture zoomed so closely, but I saw it.

Video: How Many of Michigan's Appointed State Board Members are Corrupt? Maybe citizens should find out.

Michigan is up to tricks again.  State board can make decisions on subjects on which their board members have direct stakes in.

Reporting from Rachel Maddow:

Using a search engine I have found out more about the appointed board that is able to make these decisions on their own actions. It looks like a system primed for corruption, and it's powers go far beyond petitioning.
History and Duties The Board of State Canvassers was created by the State Constitution of 1850. Over the years, the structure of the board has changed. Currently, the Board is composed of four members who are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Two board members are selected from each of the two political parties receiving the greatest number of votes in the last election for Secretary of State. Board members serve four-year terms. The terms are staggered so that the term of a Republican seat and the term of a Democratic seat expire in February of each odd-numbered year. The duties of the Board of State Canvassers include: Canvassing and certifying statewide elections, elections for legislative districts that cross county lines and all judicial offices except Judge of the Probate Court. Conducting recounts for state-level offices. Canvassing nominating petitions filed with the Secretary of State. Canvassing state-level ballot proposal petitions. Assigning ballot designations and adopting ballot language for statewide ballot proposals. Approving electronic voting systems for use in the state.
This group works under the auspice of the Secretary of Stare, which is currently held by a Republican elected in the 2010 election, because the former Republican SOS couldn't be re-elected due to term limits.

Ballotopedia's page on the race is at Michigan Secretary of State election, 2010.
It unfortunately, then uses a banner for Michigan Attorney General for the results table, but I think that was jut a slip up.  An AG is a lot different than an SOS. And indeed Ballotopedia  describes the 2010 race for MI AG differently at Michigan Attorney General election, 2010.

The Michigan governor appoints 2 new members of the Board of  State Canvassers in odd numbered years, meaning that 2 of the board members would have been named in 2011 just months after Rick Snyder was elected Secretary of State for the first time. The head of the MI State Board of Canvasser, Democrat Julie Matusak was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder in  February 2011. And in fact, she is the member of the board with the least experience on it.  From: Governor appoints members to state boards and commissions.

And if Governor Snyder gets re-elected then it is likely that Julie Matusak could be re-appointed in four years.    I could not find the salary for Board of State Canvassers on the Internet.  I did find a PDF of a picture of some state positions at the Detroit Free Press Governor's Appointees Salary Database.  Where a blurb notes that
There are currently 177 incumbents that hold positions appointed by the governor. Half or more of these individuals have annual salaries of $88,434 or more (median salary). Approximately 63% earn salaries at or more than $79,650 - what a Michigan legislator currently earns.
and then turns a person over to an app that offers a free trail but then appears to want money for future searches, and a lot of information I don't want to offer right now.

Apparently, though, such appointees  make good money.

This is beginning to smell like California under Schwarzenegger.  The Republican  former action star appointed lots of Democrats to well paid positions,  and gave them perks like using state vehicles to go home on weekends in an apparent gambit to gain their approval for his gambits on turning the state to the right, a constant effort in the Golden State.

Like California, Michigan has voted Democratic in presidential races for the majority of them in the last 50 years, and who's last governor before Rick Snyder rode in on the wave of lies used by the Republicans for the 2010 election was Democratic.  In fact there are more Democrats registered in Michigan than Republicans, leaving the right to work back to power, apparently, on racial division, through which whites heavily outnumber minorities. according to Wikipedia.

Race appears to have been used to pass the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative in 2006.  The MCRI was not a real civil rights law, but one that was
... aimed at stopping the preferential treatment of minorities (by race, color, sex, or religion) in getting admission to colleges, jobs, and other publicly funded institutions. It was decried by some opponents as a repeal of the 1964 civil rights act.
according to Wikipedia on a page (linked above) showing the picture of California's own Ward Connerly, who could be viewed as a politician much like Newt Gingrich for his views on how minorities should be treated in education.

The collapse of the automobile market was a big part of the downfall of the state's economy, and a large part of that came from the GOP controlled Congress which continued to refuse to raise CAFE (fuel efficiency) standards through out the late 90s and the first six years of the Bush administration leaving the Detroit linked manufacturers to struggle when energy prices rose after 2000. (yes it fell during the great Recession because of the incredible downturn at the time) but, of course rose again as manufacturing started to recover, and not because of policies of the Obama administration except those which helped save our economy from complete collapse.

The latest recession that started during the later part of the Bush 43 years hurt the state greatly and also kept it from developing out of its dependence on the Detroit automobile manufacturing industry.

Unfortunately, the GOP has a huge propaganda machine, heavily funded by members of the 1% that are more eager than ever to throw money at it, since they have found they can control government through the party and craft laws that give them more of American's money while cutting funding to keep families and communities solvent.

We'd better keep and eye on Michigan.  We can either help stop the rape of their state by the 1%, or we can allow the right wing machine to sell all our rights to the multi-millionaires and billionaires that are already lining up behind Mitt Romney.

Videos Show Romney's Anti Gay Agenda & How Big Money Games Scientists, and Buys Politicians, and The News Media Goes Along.

Two Rachel Maddow videos show that anti-gay groups actually gamed a famous scientist that first found that homosexuality was not a disease, so that he published another report expressing a belief that some homosexuals could be cured. Watch these two videos for the complete story.

Note that the scientist now claims he was sent subjects from an anti-gay group that claimed they were cured of being gay, and that he no longer felt confident that the people he talked to were telling the truth. Also the man Rachel talks to was also part of that group. This was an important study, that gave a major boost to anti-gay proselytizing, and the scientist was obviously fooled, but it was all a sham.

What is being described in these videos is like the kind of fascism that created Nazi Germany. Fake science. Yep right there. Major political groups basing their whole meme for the poor on bigotry and racism. Yep. (The rich will go along because the Republicans give them the message not to worry, wealthy people like them will be safe. and the mainstream news system refuses to deal with reality, because they can sell the control of the masses' minds for money to the fat cats.)

This is 1984 and only bits and pieces of this are getting out.

Another news report I recently read said that wealthy supporters of same sex marriage believe that Romney will back their cause, even though if you watch the videos above you know that the Romney's charity actually donates to anti-gay groups.

The Bible says you can only be one way or the other.  I guess Mitt Romney is too wealthy for those silly rules in the Bible.  That's for the rest of us who aren't part of the 1%.

Mitt Rommey is the greatest scam ever put upon Americans.   The only thing he is being honest about is his desire for more military actions in the world.

America had better wake up or we'll be stuck with this man in the White House.

Video: The Lies Behind Kerry Picket's Claim that Clinton's DOJ "Found Out" That Assault Weapons Ban Was Useless

Above you will hear Kerry Picket say something equivalent to "Clinton's DOJ "found out" that the type of weapons banned by the assault weapon law were not the types of guns being used in violent crimes."  I've listened to it three times, but cannot repeat it more as my old computer tends to stall out rapidly under video viewing and I have terrible delay problems already.

I am not up on all weapons and their parts and what are assault weapons or what were defined as such by the Brady Bill, but I'd like to ask if no AKs were ever used in crime, or were they not banned by the bill, or was Ice Tea just fronting when he rapped about them?

But Ms. Pickets statements are obviously so misleading that in essence she is lying (which is probably why she is stuttering so badly in this video. She was sent out to get lies passed on a national show. Some people are not as smooth as the big liars that no one wants to listen to anymore and so they tend to stutter when they play the same right wing game of lying on national television when the host and others can't run to their computers and look things up or otherwise sit and think about what she said and figure out how she's twisted the truth.

But, even if Kerry Picket (@kerrypicket on Twitter) was telling the truth she was cutting it so thin that it wouldn't make an adequate sandwich for a toddler. Possibly the banned guns weren't used in crimes (though she should talk to the LAPD out here who constantly are claiming to be taking banned guns used in crimes off the street). Maybe, the truth is that once the currently banned guns were against the law, new ones were developed that were even more dangerous, as appears to have happened.

Then what should we have done? We should have banned the new, more dangerous guns, but something happened. The GOP realized there was a desperate interest group in the US who depended on buying, trading, and selling guns to fill their wallets and assuage their fears. The GOP also realized they could use this group to gain votes that they could sell to fat cats who wanted tax cuts for the wealthy and more wars to grab other nations' resources at little expense to themselves. So they started wailing about how the Democrats were going to ban guns and that would leave gun buyers at the mercy of those "dark people" or "Commies". I believe it was Ronald Reagan who actually posited that Soviet Russia might come up at us through Nicaragua. Within 4 years of his leaving the White House though, of course, the Soviet Union collapsed due to it's over extension in expansionist wars, a line we started heading towards when the GOP got control in 2001 and is still trying to get back to. So, while gun manufacturers were creating more powerful guns and bigger clips the GOP enforced a ban on banning them and refused to even renew the now whimpy and ineffective Brady bill. But plenty of deaths have been caused by the rejiggered assault weapons and assault level cartridges. After the Virginia Tech massacre people were crying out for banning the sell of large capacity magazines, but the GOP stood in the way. Even before people had worried about them, but they were used over and over again. After the shooting of US Representative Gabby Giffords, and the killing of many others including a Federal District judge and a sweet nine year old girl the cries reached a crescendo, yet the GOP sits back and laughs, and keeps promoting racism and gun ownership. Most of the mass killings in the last 20 years were done by firearms defined by the moniker "assault weapons" from the Columbine killings, to Fort Hood, to Tucson. Josh Sugarman noted just 10 at the Huffington Post, but there have been so many others, the Colorado killings at a missionary school and a mega church, shootings at other schools and shopping centers. Law Enforcement officers agree that without assault weapons people just can't be killed so quickly.  And please don't ignore that we have filled Mexico with so many assault weapons that it is rapidly becoming a failed state, and a place of death and mayhem.

After jsut about everyone of the mass killings in the US, people cry out that the killer just couldn't have murdered so many if there was proper action on banning assault weapons, not just renewing the Brady bill, but keeping up with the new ways that weapons manufacturers push more death out the door to their customers. Next time it might be someone you love that is killed by a random stranger, an ex, or someone convinced that "minorities" or "the majority" have it coming to them and pick up an assault weapon to set things "straight".

Vote for those who will listen to us about our concerns on the wild availability of assault weapons.  Elect people who will not only ban what is available now, but keep up with new designs that skirt the law.

What a Difference A Democratic Governor Makes

Minnesota
Here's a Happy Minnesota Resident

I don't know what Governor Mark Dayton has done for this fine web-footed citizen, but he's protecting the human ones of his state from the onerous ALEC legislation passed by the state legislature. People need more state officials like him.

Picture above is shared via native Flickr coding and used with consent by Creative Commons License Attribution 2.0 Generic (CC BY 2.0).  Rollover for Flickr name of photography source which has no connection this blog or blogger.  Click to go to original source.

A MinnPost report shows a picture of Governor Mark Dayton and tells us that he recently vetoed his the 7th ALEC related bill  since taking office.

This latest bill would have shifted the monetary responsibility to treat former workers from the backs of businesses who seek to purchase companies that once used the material onto the backs of the taxpayers of Minnesota or "others"  which would most likely be the victims and possibly charity foundations.  But surely those folks could just grow some chickens and take them to the doctor for payment of thousands of dollars worth of treatment each year (or maybe month) right?

Looking for a picture for the top of this post, I came across plenty under Minnesota which I didn't use because they had many faces that most likely don't want to end up on my blog.  They were people from 2010 at the state capital demonstrating to save General Assistance Medical Care, which was apparently threatened during the governorship of  Republican Tim Pawlenty in 2010.  Pawlenty hoped to use his credentials as a conservative governor to gain the Republican nomination for president this year, though he had cut taxes by cutting essential services, like thoroughly inspecting and repairing the states' bridges until one fell down in Minneapolis on August 1, 2007 killing a number of citizens.  See Wikipedia: I-35W Mississippi River bridge.

Interestingly, a Flickr user posted a picture dated May 13, 2007 in which another user then pointed out corrosion on one of the lower struts that may have been partially responsible for the collapse. According to Flickr's note of the date posted (in months) that note was probably added just after the accident.  The picture was offered as Creative Commons License Attribution 2.0 Generic (CC BY 2.0)
so I inserted it below.  Rollover for Flickr name of photographer, click on it to go to original site. Photographer has no connection to this blog or blogger.

AP: Men Lost More Jobs at the Start of Bush's Great Recession, Women in the Latter Part Because of Demographics, Republican Intransigence.

Nothing left to sell
Cue Depression Music for Mr. R-Money

He delivers BS  that sounds suspiciously like a Karl Rove talking point and as easily disproven.  Even at that though the Associated Press does half a job of debunking it.  The other half would have put Republicans in a bad light.  Mustn't go there, right AP?

Picture above shared using Flickr native coding and allowed by Creative Commons License Attribution 2.0 Generic  (CC BY 2.0).  Rollover to see Flickr name of photographer why has no connection to this blog or blogger.

The AP did a half-baked analysis of Governor Romney's, Karl Rovish assertion that 92.3% of jobs lost under Obama were those held by women. The writer tells us  that condition developed because men bore the brunt of job losses in the first 13 months of the Great Recession that happened before Obama came into office:
Romney's math is solid as far as it goes. But more men than women have lost jobs since the recession began — that's why economists called it a "man-cession."
In blaming Obama for "turning the clock back 20 years on American women," as the Romney campaign puts it, Republicans are hoping to counter Obama's perceived advantage with female voters. But they ignore how recessions generally — and the last one in particular — unfold, and they hold Obama accountable for the state of the economy from the time he took office, before his policies could make any difference.
But the AP report continues
Women were more heavily represented in jobs that suffered in the recession's later months and beyond, as revenue-strapped state and local governments laid off teachers and cut other public-sector workers.
Still, even that, though technically accurate, doesn't show the totality of the real picture.  In fact, after the Republicans grabbed the leadership of the House in the 2010 election and even before they have been working to harm women's employment chances.  First by cutting the stimulus and requiring that much of the package focus on tax cuts.  But later, after they came into power in many states as well as the US House of Representatives by promising more jobs, they instead, in the states, first cut taxes for the wealthy and businesses, and then tried to decimate the public worker sector including in education the cornerstone of progress for Americans.

If you're really strapped for cash you don't take what little money you have and go throw it at the nearest group of millionaires, and then go home, start throwing your family out of the house so you can live in it alone, and afterwards still expect them to look at you as a benevolent leader of the group.  In fact, you would seem a tyrant to them more interested in pleasing fat cats than in taking care of your family, which is actually what the Republican party is all about.  After all Republicans, are reliant on political advertising purchased using the money of the top 1% of businesses and individuals.  This is never aired adequately in the press because the news media depends for its funds on the same wealthy people.

So, less even than the effect of male jobs being lost, jobs women have held in our states and counties were decimated at least twice by Republican governance, once by the recession that took away the good paying jobs for men coupled with Republican intransigence in the US House, and then by the GOP in 2011 which, like we saw in Wisconsin, bumped as many public workers as they could out of jobs because they themselves were sitting in good publicly funded jobs, but saw a better future for themselves as being repaid by the Koch brothers and other like-minded people they court with tax cuts and destruction of state and federal government jobs, most of which had been stable and well paid with benefits which allowed men and women to raise and educate their children in  a little bit of comfort.

And the GOP has forced cuts to the length of time a person can receive unemployment benefits .If a man or woman has to forgo retraining for a type of job that can be held, to support his or her family immediately he or she might have to take a cleaning job at the local market or fast food joint.  One free to work longer at regaining employment could take classes and get a good middle class job that sets his or her family on the path to creating great futures for their kids and a good retirement for themselves.

So, in fact, the GOP has been  the primary culprit in male and female job losses as they cut unemployment benefits, and safety nets.  It is typical though that they then come out and blame Obama for that which the GOP has been actively achieving in their quest to gain total control of the nation so they can sell your rights to a good life for your family to multimillionaires.

Why don't they just put a sign on it.

NOW OWNED BY BAIN CAPITAL.  WORKERS CAN REAPPLY FOR JOBS (AT DRASTICALLY LOWER WAGES} STARTING MONDAY.

That is if they don't just take all of those degraded employment opportunities and outsource them to China anyway.   That would fit right into the Romney/GOP game plan that has actually helping China and the 1% destroy our economy.

Thanks for nothing, GOP.

Allegations: Sanford Police MIA Over Attacks on Blacks in Sanford, Florida

There are allegations that Sanford Police have been slackers in investigating attacks on minorities in Sanford Florida, a town with only one black community representative.

This is not the only time that investigations of killings and other misuse of black men don't seem to have been well done.

Incidents from beatings to murder appear to have been poorly investigated, or reviewed with the eye to save embarrassment or heavy punishment to family members or one of their own.

In an earlier article I read that the Zimmerman clan wrote a letter to the sister of Sherman Ware in the first linked article claiming that George had earlier stood up for her brother and had passed out leaflets trying to get blacks to demand justice in his case.  The Zimmermans and their attorneys provided some examples of such leaflets, but nothing was determined about the truthfulness of the claims, and no one seems to have noticed.

See a recounting of the problems of the current investigation and earlier problematic ones:

Trayvon Martin Case Spotlights Florida Town's History Of 'Sloppy' Police Work

Also see where George Zimmerman defenders cite fears of Shaken Baby Syndrome for his shooting of Trayvon Martin in

Trayvon Martin Case: George Zimmerman Lawyer Cites 'Shaken Baby Syndrome' As Defense

I have a problem with that, because the danger of shaking a baby are actually pretty specific to childhood and upon searching I found an Australian government site that explains:

A baby’s brain is very fragile.
It is softer and moves around
inside the skull more than an
older child or adult’s brain.

See Never Shake a Baby.

I'm sure with more searching I could find similar advice on many other websites.   It was a common theme when I was raising my children.  Baby's brains are much more fragile than those of adults.  It's rather sad that a full grown man should try to co-opt the tenderness of the baby's head structure to justify killing a teen.

I still say it would help a lot if they change the name of the city to Trayvon, Florida.  It would even be carried on the Police cars there, and always be a reminder that their are limits to the Stand Your Ground laws.

Why Right Wing Internet Activists are So Mean

There are a few reasons why right wing politicians and their lower level minions like pundits, bloggers, commenters, Tweeters, and others are so mean.

Reason #1:  It works.
Most people have a natural aversion to abusive talk  There are a certain amount though that revel in it. They might take their bullying behavior from their personal life and bring it into political realm, and then finding that attitude somewhat successful, use it more or escalate it. For years people have tried to avoid being attacked on the web and there may be some (though good smart people are often attacked just because they are smart and good) that still run from it. By eliminating those good and smart people who can't stand such abuse, the right knows it gains an advantage.

Reason #2: There's money in it for creepy, mean people who may not be able to get jobs, have low level jobs, or even others why have office jobs or other situations where they can post mean stuff on the Internet while blowing off their main profession at the office. Hopefully, those types won't have jobs long. Let them earn their nickle a tweet dough from the stingy GOP backers.  In fact, a couple of creepy bloggers in 2004 wrote enough lies to get John Thune into Speaker Tom Daschle's seat.  I've read this also in mainstream news reports earlier in the millennium which I can't find now, but here is a reference I can find now.  I might not trust this blogger if I hadn't read the basic facts of the following quote in a CBS report earlier, and I have no idea if his or her allegations against Markos Moulitos are accurate:
Political campaigns and consultants are becoming increasingly skillful at manipulating the mainstream press by planting stories in the blogosphere. Despite this, the mainstream press remains credulous about blogging. During South Dakota's U.S. Senate race between Tom Daschle and John Thune, the Thune campaign put two local political bloggers on its payroll. One got $27,000, the other $8,000. Their anti-Daschle reports trickled up into South Dakota newspapers.
The lesson for a campaign is obvious: Got a story you can't convince a mainstream reporter to run? Leak it anonymously to a blog on your payroll. Then get a local reporter to write a story on the controversial, gossipy, local political blog. Soon everyone in town will be talking about the story you leaked to the blog. Voila! Eventually a mainstream news organization will run a story on the rumor that "everyone is talking about." Or they'll do a "what people are buzzing about on the Internet" piece. And no one will know that the blog post was a paid placement until after the election.
If you see the long hours right wing haters work, and the creepy tactics they use, you know no one will ruin their lives for nothing.  Maybe some are sitting in their corner offices playing the right wing game, but still they already have it good, and mostly get the kudos and privileges that being well off offers, why would you drag yourself down into the mud to do so?

Another piece of evidence I have is contact from what I believe was a paid troll.  I once wrote a post on an AP report that mostly blamed Boston Big Dig contractors for myriad problems with the tunnel expressway.  The fact that one of the partners was Bechtel who was also creating projects for the Bush administration in Iraq that were at the time being exposed as failures (Bechtel claims the Iraqis didn't run them well and it was the natives' incompetencies that led to the failures) may have led to my eager repetition of bad news.  To make a long story short, I got an incredibly nasty reply from a "structural engineer" who claimed to have nothing to do with Bechtel, but told me of all sorts of reports (none to which he would link) that showed the glorious partners (okay glorious is my word) did everything right and it was all the fault of the government of Boston.  By the end of the reply the writer was slinging verbal poo at me.  So I couldn't resist since my comment box also offered the IP of the sender, I had to look it up.  It was sent from the offices of Bechtel in Boston.  First of all this man or woman wasn't or shouldn't have been an engineer.  I believe he/she wasn't.  His/her demeanor showed he/she wasn't or shouldn't have been in any area of command of such a trusted company, and I believe he/she wasn't.  But somehow he/she was working at Bechtel, sending nasty notes to anyone (I assume) who repeated what was found in an AP report.   Unfortunately my blog host of 51/2 years (blog-city) gave up last year on us private bloggers with our puny money and big demands and dumped us to work for business.  I can hardly blame the staff there.  Some of the bloggers were real jerks to the managers.  But, I used to be able to link to that comment and my reply to him or her.  It was hilarious.

Reason #3: By flooding the Internet with lies and abuse the GOP can even push Mainstream News to change their coverage of an incident to the right wing line. After all, mainstream news is owned and supported by the top 1%. Who is biggest investor in the NY Times? The last I heard it was Carlos Slim Helu', Forbes' richest man in the world this year, who made most of his money off Mexico, you know where poor people throw away their lives away working for drug cartels because it's the only job they can get, and from where people flee to the US in droves to take sub-minimum wage jobs. It doesn't take a publication receiving many threats and lies from creepy right wing top dogs and their Internet minions much to start hiding news just after breaking it, because the right wing haters start yelling at the top of their voices.  mainstream news' financial supporters really don't have that many ethics to protect, and are obviously into making big bucks over making sure their "news" is accurate.
In the case of George W. Bush's truncated service in the Texas Air National Guard (TANG), there was plenty of evidence that he actually got out of finishing even that draft dodge by failing to return to TANG to finish his service. At first, Mainstream news was all over the evidence, affirming it and investigating it, but the right and their creepy Internet ghouls came on full force, making claims that the papers recovered, were in fact, created on Microsoft Word (not available at the time) because of fonts quirks in them. The fact turned out to be that some military offices did have typewriters that could do such fonts and tricks as used in the memos proving Bush had ditched his last months of service by not returning after graduating from Harvard Business School.
Also, everyone involved who testified had told at least one person that, even if the memos were fake, the facts in them honestly represent the was W was treated while at TANG. He was given every privilege they could give to the son of a very important person and he probably had not adequately finished his TANG service. But CBS fired the woman who broke the story and later got rid of Dan Rather, one of the best newsmen ever, right up there with Edward R Murrow the guy who made courageous reports from wartime London only to have his career destroyed in the 50s because he wouldn't join the right wing hunt for "commies".
(The previous paragraph was indented for emphasis, not because it was copied from another source.)

Also see the indented paragraph  in the money for bloggers section about how South Dakota bloggers were able to get Tom Daschle out of office..  It is harder for bloggers today to grab some GOP dough, as the news system is a little more skeptical of bloggers (okay they, in fact, hate us), but still good reporting is punished these days not only by bloggers, but also by the RNC and mainstream sources know their mostly conservative backers do not look kindly on anything that bolsters liberal claims.  After first learning facts and reporting them, many reporters or their superiors walk them back in the face of criticism from the right.

Reason #4:  Being a creepy Internet hater troll is a really bad and dangerous lifestyle.  It is well known that exercise is important, yet the mean right wingers I've known in real life tend to be tweakers, or fat, showing they spend way too much time on the Internet.  Late night on politcal hashtags is a tragic parody of reality with right wing haters predominating every one they've ever learned about.  These people are spending way too much time online working for those nickels a tweet, quarter a forum post, or maybe a little more for an actual blog post (if they can manage that).  I also suspect heavy meth or cocaine use among late night Internet troll.  It would explain a lot about their lack of decorum  or at least control.  Some have worked their way up into more prominent r/w "news" jobs or created their own, but sometimes they don't even live very long then, because their focus on making it in the world of right wing hate talk is a dangerous lifestyle.  I'm guessing most in the biz are trying to work enough to get to a place where they can afford some medical help to compensate for their dangerous addictions and avoid the fate of some.

Reason #5:  The hunt for money becomes even more intense once right wingnuts get beyond the tweeting posting stage and/or want to break into the mainstream blogging, but if they want to do something really mean they will get help.  The man who exposed the young House page that received sexually explicit tweets from then Republican representative Mark Foley had his name hidden in news reports, but one middle aged loser wanted to expose him and soon did. Later reports told how a prominent r/w blogger passed him information on how to see Google's cached information.  (Okay you may already know this, but he didn't.)  So success, and the out of luck right wing blogger, was able to expose a young Republican aide because the young man had come forward to support an even younger son of Republicans who was objecting to Foley's communications.  Isn't that great, they dragged 2 of their own teens into the mud because they were pissed that Mark Foley got exposed as a sexual predator?

Yeah, pretty mean and creepy.

I've been fighting the lies from the right since the 1997 run up to the impeachment president Clinton.  It is now said that the impeachment and removal charade was all manufactured to get Clinton to push for and sign the Gramm, Leach, Bliley Act, an important piece of legislation in creating the collapse and Great Recession of 2008.  When I first heard of the legislation, I searched for the reason it was installed as law.  Did the Republican controlled Congress ("Speaker" Gingrich was gone by the time the act passed, but the leaders that remained were just as nasty) get a veto proof  majority?  In fact they did.  But I searched out more just in case I hadn't seen the entire picture, and in fact found that Clinton pushed Democrats to vote for the act.  I thought he was just pandering to fat cats, like his Treasury Secretary, because Hillary had announced about that time her intention to run for a Senate seat from the great state of Wall Street (you know, New York) as a step (we learned later) towards running for the presidency.  But others say that Clinton had to make a deal with Republicans to push for the bill so they would vote against removing him from office after the ludicrous Impeachment trial.  This shows how dangerous it is to allow Republicans to gain power even in the House and Senate.  No, at long last, they do not have any decency left.  It is all greed and lust for power.

That's why, even if I have to go down in the mud with the paid right wing haters and trolls, it's for the future of all of those who are not the minions of the 1% and their right wing hate squads. If we ignore them, mainstream news doesn't and is free to repeat their lies.  Our push back to the public and to mainstream publications helps keep right wing money from overwhelming the news system.  It's a difficult job, but someone has to do it.

Video: Lawrence O Donnell on The Holes in George Zimmerman's Public Defense

Once again Lawrence O'Donnell asks the questions that need to be asked and makes the statements that need to be made:  If George Zimmerman's nose was broken and he received a blow to the head hard enough to have caused a concussion, why doesn't his legal team promise to produce medical records showing the same?  O'Donnell maintains that if the lawyers just said the words that promised to produce records in the future showing such injuries, he would be satisfied, but they waffle around, not promising any proof in the future and therefore they are not credible. See video for his exact words.

Video: Zimmerman Sr Admitted He Talked to Sanford Police & State Attorney the Night His Son Was Arrested #TrayvonMartin #Justice4Trayvon #hoodsup

O'Donnell  also said, of course, they knew who Mr Zimmerman was (a retired magistrate judge from VA) because George had been arrested before.  It is also true that the Florida State Attorney stepped in to get George out of jail.

Video: MHP Show: Similar Patterns Arise After Previous Unjust Killings of Young Black Men. Trash the Victim's Past #Justice4Trayvon

Mellisa Harris Perry and her guests talk about how unjustified killings of young black men are followed by sources releasing "news" aimed at trashing the victim's character. We sure have seen that this time. It's part of the plan to get people to just accept the criminal action because, you know, he might have smoked some weed at some time.

That according to some right wingers is ample reason for a man with repeated management anger problems which could have lead to possible felony convictions, but for some mysterious reason (cough family connections? cough) didn't, to shoot an unarmed teen who was doing nothing but walking home that night.

He used the demon weeeeeeeeedddddddddddd!

For politicians and their attendant journalists getting you to accept what happened as settled and done is more important than seeing a crime exposed and punished. But punishment deferred can become punishment abandoned, in which case it usually gives an abuser the feeling of safety that tells him or her to go ahead and do it again, even escalate his or her aggressive activities. This is why George Zimmerman needs to face trial if there is any possibility that prejudice not innocent personal safety issues led to the death of Trayvon Martin.

If a criminal is escalating his or her crimes, you have to ask who is the next victim?  Is it someone you love?
